The Prolific Paintbrush

Known for their bright red color, the Indian Paint Brush, (or Painted Cup) carpets the northwest, producing in abundance.  The first glance I had of this beautiful flower was while visiting Glacier National Park with my mother and father in June.  Snow was still resting on the highest of peaks while the green was bursting from beneath our feet.

The blue azure butterfly pranced from flower to flower, however, there is no perching on these petals- they have to hover.  Known as the WY state flower, they vary in color from red to yellow to orange.
