Soarin' or Scratchin'

Would you rather soar or scratch? if you’re a turkey you need to scratch to find food and if you’re an eagle you need to soar or others will think of you rude and uncouth.

I’ve heard it said, “If you hang around turkeys, you’re going to be a turkey, but if you hang around eagles, you’re going to soar like an eagle.”  Benjamin Franklin had a much different thought on the meaning of the two birds’ character.  If it were up to him, the turkey would be on the seal instead.  He states in a letter written to his daughter in Philadelphia, ”For my own part I wish the Bald Eagle had not been chosen the Representative of our Country.  He is a bird of bad moral character and does not get his living honestly.  For the Truth the Turkey is in comparison a much more respectable Bird and withal a true original Native of America...” The state bird for Massachusetts is the turkey.  I wonder if Ben had any influence?  Which one are you?  Why?
