Georgia O'Keeffe inspired series
What started out as two very distinct images, has become an entire series. The first vision came on my lunch break in Colorado. The second, driving to breakfast in Santa Fe, NM. Living out west for 16 years, the landscape and natural phenomenons awakened a new part of my soul, transforming my paper cuts. Where Land and Sky Meets emulates the clean, natural beauty of the earth. The moon, stars, mountains and water are all prominent features, also that of the buffalo skull. Georgia O’Keeffe was familiar with the cow skulls that she found while hiking around her home in Abiquiu. I am familiar with buffalo skulls. I never thought I would be paper cutting skulls, but I realized, once you understand death, it is then you can understand life. |
